Product Description Intended for the one- or two-semester course required of Education majors, Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers, 4/e, offers pre-service teachers a comprehensive mathematics course designed to foster concept development through examples, investigations, and explorations. Visual icons throughout the main text allow instructors to easily connect content to the hands-on activities in the corresponding Explorations Manual. In addition to presenting real-world problems that require active learning, Bassarear demonstrates that there may be many paths to finding a solution--and even more than one answer. With this exposure, future teachers are better prepared to assess student needs using diverse approaches.

I had a great experience. Book arrived on time and was in great condition. Price was great!

When I bought this product, the description said that the cover was worn, so I was not suprised to find part of the bottom corner torn off. I was suprised that the cover was held together with tape though. To me, that is more than worn. Other than that, the book was in good shape.

Came very fast but was in horrible condition. I do not think that I can ever sell this book back to anyone.
An expensive required book... January 25, 2010 Robert Creasy (Left Coast, From Here) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was required for the class I took. It is extremely expensive and not user friendly. The author clearly is not an elementary school teacher and I suspect may not have ever been one. The entire book is written more for math majors than those planning to teach in the elementary grades. The book does not provide any guidance for techniques that may be used at different grade levels. In fact I could not find a single reference in the book that speaks to matching teaching techniques with child cognitive development. All in all it was a frustrating book and frustrating course since the instructor largely taught from the book.
